Welcome!
We are Station 48, the Salvo Volunteer Fire Department, located in the village of Salvo on Hatteras Island, North Carolina.
Along with the Chicamacomico Banks Volunteer Fire Department, we serve the northern part of Hatteras Island from the Bonner Bridge to approximately halfway between the villages of Salvo and Avon. Currently, we have 4 vehicles: a brush truck, two pumpers, and a brand new 100-foot aerial truck.
We meet for training every Monday night at 6:30 at the fire station. Outside of those times, the station is usually unmanned. See our Contact page for details about how to get in touch with us then.
